Part of the very popular 'Armchair Walking Tour' series, created by the Rockland historian John Scott, this will be presented by Bob Goldberg, who will be available to answer questions.

Following each evening's slide show &/or presentation, we invite our guests upstairs to the HSRC's museum galleries to enjoy our current exhibits.

In our William H. Hand Gallery, The Historical Society of Rockland County presents: 'Images of Rockland in photographs & words' -- enjoy the beautiful photographs of Arthur H. Gunther III, the retired editorial page editor, columnist and staff photographer of The Journal-News in Rockland County, where he served with the newspaper for 42 years. He wrote more than 6,000 pieces for the newspaper, including about 2,500 weekly columns. In 2006, a selection of those essays was published by The Historical Society of Rockland County under the title, The Column Rule, which is available at the exhibit. In May 2010, Art was awarded the Arts Council of Rockland (ACOR) County Executive's Arts Award for Visual Artist of the Year. This exhibit curated by Joanne Potanovic, opens on Sunday, June 27, 2010 and runs through Sunday, August 29, 2010.

In our front gallery, is 'Rockland Voices' which runs through Sunday, November 7, 2010. In this exhibit, rediscover the Historical Society of Rockland County's permanent collection by seeing a Lenapi cooking pot, relics from the 'Treason House' and maps of the Nyack Turnpike. This exhibit was curated by Jessica Kuhnen.
