"Pretty Paper" at the Jacob Blauvelt House
In the historic Jacob Blauvelt House, we will continue our efforts to showcase highlights from the Historical Society’s permanent collection, as Hudson Valley’s Tastemaker Ned Kelly returns to curate “Pretty Paper.” In addition to selecting interesting, eclectic, and unique items from the HSRC’s collection shelves, Ned and his team, using their “perfect-pitch taste,” will decorate the historic Jacob Blauvelt House, enhancing the charming spaces with exquisite beauty and refined elegance for the holidays. Highlights from the HSRC permanent collection include paper in many forms—such as holiday cards by the beloved
Rockland artist Robert Burghardt, charming antique paper dolls, and more. As the principal repository for original documents and artifacts relating to Rockland County, the HSRC is proud to continue to share a portion of our collection with the public.

“The Joy of Toys” at the History Center
As a prelude to kicking off the Historical Society's Golden Anniversary Year in 2015, the History Center will showcase toys of the past 50 years. This partially “hands-on” exhibition will take a lighthearted look back at the 1960s and 1970s with whimsical display of Hanukkah and Christmas gift-giving “blasts from the past.” Highlights include our traditional dollhouses, along with a timeline of Barbie dolls from 1965 to today, games, puzzles, and much more.

“The Joy of Toys” and “Pretty Paper,” together with Ned Kelly's holiday décor, will be open for viewing on Saturdays and Sundays (noon-4 pm) without appointment and on weekdays by appointment between December 14 and January 11, as well as during the HSRC's Holiday Programs (see below).

As has been an ongoing tradition, the HSRC is also delighted to announce our annual raffle! Raffle tickets will be available throughout the duration of the exhibition!
