When: Admission to the event is $FREE, but guests are responsible for paying any parking fees.

This is a meetup announcement for history enthusiasts. All are welcome!

The Lilac Garden is a large collection of these sweet-scented and prolific spring beauties, in the peak of bloom this time of year. Members of the Skylands lilac team will be in this part of the garden to answer any questions you might have.

To join the group, arrive at the New Jersey Botanical Garden/Skylands at 11:30 am. Meet HSRC volunteer Cathy Quinn in Parking Lot B. The Lilac Garden is across the street and up a small incline from parking area. Please note that there are steps with no railing, and we will be walking mostly on grassy, sloping terrain.

Lunch is not included. If the weather cooperates, feel free to bring a snack to enjoy after the viewing. Seating is minimal and mostly along the marble steps in the adjacent larger garden, so you can also bring a seat with you if you play to stay. Restroom facilities will be rustic (likely portable toilets).

This Meetup will take place outdoors, so please dress accordingly. Also, we will observe safe social distancing, as required by NJ State Law, and request that you bring a mask/facial covering.

• Follow I-287 North or South and exit at Exit 57.
• After exiting, turn left from I-287 North, or right from I-287 South, following signs for Skyline Drive.
• Take Skyline Drive up the mountain and back down, about 4.8 miles.
• At the traffic light (Erskine Road) go straight, then turn right at the stop sign onto CR-511 (Greenwood Lake Turnpike.)
• Go about 1.5 miles, taking the second right onto Sloatsburg Road.
• Go about 2 miles, past Hewitt School (on your right), Carletondale Rd. (on your right), and Margaret King Ave. (on your left).
• Take the next right onto Morris Road; Skylands is 1.25 miles up Morris Rd., at the top of the hill.
