My Grandfather Frank Eberling: New City's First Rural Free Delivery Mail Carrier
Raymond A. Eberling is one of Frank and Elsa Eberling's eight grandchildren and a fifth-generation New City native. He attended Clarkstown schools until moving to Florida in 1964. He has maintained his New City roots and love of its history, returning regularly over the years to visit. Ray spent a career as a U.S. Air Force navigator, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. He holds a BA in Education from the University of Florida and an MA in American Studies from the University of Heidelberg in Germany. With his brother Frank, Ray is co-producing a documentary about their grandfather. Frank—an award-winning writer, producer and director in the film and television industries for the past 40 years—also contributed to this article.  

2023 Historic Preservation Merit Awards 
This article highlights our historic preservation awards, which were presented on Setpember 10 at the Annual Dinner of the Historical Society of Rockland County. The Board of Trustees also honored Marjorie H. Johnson for Lifetime Service, Judge Victor Alfieri for Community Service, and Dr. Arlene Clinkscale for Living Landmark.
