The Historical Society of Rockland County Is Pleased to Announce

The Bergen County Quilts and Coverlets Show

When: Friday, October 1, 10 am–5 pm and Saturday, October 2, 10 am–4 pm
Where: Old Paramus Reformed Church, 650 East Glen Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ, and Schoolhouse Museum, 660 East Glen Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ
Admission: $10 for adults; $5 for children 12 and under (no strollers, please!)

Quilts and coverlets are not only beautiful reminders of our history but reflect the lives of Bergen County's women and men through the years.

Join th
e Ridgewood Historical Society and the Upper Saddle River Historical Society for this two-day event highlighting quilts and coverlets made in Bergen County and the surrounding region. The exhibition showcases 80 quilts and 36 coverlets made between 1800 and 1976 on loan from 16 private collections and 13 local museums, including the Historical Society of Rockland County.

Gallery Tour: Coverlets
Friday, October 1, 9 am–9:45 am
Old Paramus Reformed Church
Kay Yeomans, curator of collections at the Hopper-Goetschius House will lead the Coverlet Gallery Tour; she will discuss the evolution of Bergen County coverlet style and the images used by the local weavers.
Tickets are $25 per person (includes same-day show admission) and are for sale now. Tour is limited to 15 people; prepaid reservations are required.

Saturday, October 2, 9 am–9:45 am
Old Schoolhouse Museum
Peggy W. Norris, chair of the Bergen County Quilt and Coverlet Show, will take an in-depth look at many of the quilts and talk about some of their stories.
Tickets are $25 per person (includes same-day show admission) and are for sale now. Tour is limited to 15 people; prepaid reservations are required.

“300 Years of American Quilts” Lecture
Saturday, October 2, 1 pm
Ridgewood Public Library
125 North Maple Avenue, Ridgewood
The lecture by Dana Balsamo will present a timeline of how quilts developed in America, how styles evolved, and how history inspired quiltmakers in the past and continues to do so. Admission is $FREE. Attendance is limited to 35; reservations are required.
