Master storyteller Jonathan Kruk returns to the HSRC to present “Farm Fables of Old Rockland”—tales people living in our county in the 19th century would have enjoyed—with a mix of riddles and stories kids can help act out. Children will be highly engaged with their hands and voices.
Jonathan will perform two 45 minute shows, at 1 and 3 pm. In between, he will rove the grounds sharing local vignettes, place-name tales, history, and “Did ya’ know?” tales. His performances will be accompanied by old-time music performed by Steve Kelman.
Crafts and games will be available in the barnyard, and the Blauvelt House will be open for tours throughout the day. Crafts include making paper farm animals, tin-punching, and making beaded corncobs. Games include cornhole throw, stilt walking, 9 pin bowling, and colonial hoop rolling.
Craft supplies, water, and a healthy snack included in the admission price.
