The Historical Society's History Center is open for administrative business Wednesdays–Fridays, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., year-round. 

We are currently in the process of installing our new exhibition for 2026 -- "Rockland in the Revolution: An 250th Anniversary Exploration" -- in the History Center galleries. During the installation, the galleries are closed to the public.

Once the exhibition opens later this spring, the Jacob Blauvelt House will also reopen for Sunday afternoon docent-guided tours at 1, 2 and 3 pm (except May 17, when we will be closed for a special event).

If you have a research interest, you must contact our Senior Historian (historian@rocklandhistory.org) in advance to schedule an appointment.

Directions

From Manhattan or Long Island: Take the upper level of the George Washington Bridge; stay to the right and take the Palisades Parkway north to Exit 11 (approximately 25 miles). Turn right onto New Hempstead Road. Travel approximately 1.7 miles on New Hempstead Road to the third traffic light (Main Street). Turn left onto Main Street. At 1.5 miles, you will come to a three-way intersection with a stop sign. The Historical Society's parking lot is the first right after proceeding straight ahead at the stop sign.

From Westchester: Take the Tappan Zee Bridge to the New York State Thruway. Leave the Thruway at Exit 13N (Palisades Parkway). Take the parkway to Exit 11 (approximately 25 miles). Turn right onto New Hempstead Road. Travel approximately 1.7 miles on New Hempstead Road to the third traffic light (Main Street). Turn left onto Main Street.
