When we drive up Route 287 or Route 17, we are passing a piece of history that George Washington knew well: the Ramapo Pass. He wrote in his logbook that it was of vital importance that the Ramapo Pass remain in American possession.

This year's guest speaker, Craig H. Long, will share with us this important piece of Revolutionary War history.

Born and raised in Suffern, with family roots in the community that date back to the 1700s, Craig Long is the Rockland County Historian and serves as the municipal historian for the villages of Suffern and Montebello, as well as for the Town of Ramapo. He is the author of several local histor publications.
