Crossroads of Rockland History
Eberling Mail Wagon Update
10/19/2026
The October episode of “Crossroads of Rockland History” begins streaming on Monday, October 19, at 10 am on all major podcast platforms and here on the HSRC website.
Tune in to the next "Crossroads of Rockland History" for an update on the restoration of the Eberling Mail Wagon.
Since the 1970s, when it was donated to the Historical Society of Rockland County (HSRC) collections by the late Dr. Anthony Pavia of New City, the HSRC has had in its possession the horsedrawn wagon used by Postman Frank Eberling to carry mail on New City’s Rural Free Delivery routes at the start of the 20th century.
Eberling's grandsons
Ray and Frank Eberling
have been working with the HSRC to restore the wagon for display at the History Center in New City. Ray and Frank will join host Clare Sheridan to provide an update on the mail wagon’s restoration, and how HSRC members and the wider community have helped in the process.
New episodes of "Crossroads of Rockland History," a program of the Historical Society of Rockland County, premier at www.RocklandHistory.org on the third Monday of each month. Join host Clare Sheridan as we explore, celebrate, and learn about our local history, with different topics and guest speakers. Our recorded broadcasts are also available for streaming on all major podcasts platforms.
The Historical Society of Rockland County is a nonprofit educational institution and principal repository for original documents and artifacts relating to Rockland County. Its headquarters are a four-acre site featuring a history museum and the 1832 Jacob Blauvelt House in New City, New York.
